Here's what went down in the world of marital support:

👫 Participants completed a self-esteem scale and a spousal support scale (cue the ""awws"")

💕 Higher levels of spousal support were linked to higher levels of marital quality and stability for both men and women (yay for love!)

🤔 But, when wives perceived their partner's support as higher than their own self-esteem, it led to lower levels of satisfaction (oops)

😬 And for husbands, too much support led to lower levels of satisfaction and intimacy (double oops)

So, while support is important, it's all about finding that sweet spot where it boosts your self-esteem without making you feel like you're not living up to your partner's expectations. Keep that in mind next time you're giving (or receiving) some marital support. 💍
